Ground-source (geothermal) systems are efficient and eligible for higher rebates, but drilling or trenching makes the upfront cost much higher than an air-source unit. They suit properties with land and a long ownership horizon. Most North Bay homes are better served by a cold-climate air-source or hybrid system.
